The Metrics Worth Watching After Launch

The Metrics Worth Watching After Launch

After launch, most teams either watch nothing or watch everything. Neither is useful. The better approach is to track the few signals that tell you whether the site is helping the business do its job.

For a service business, that usually means lead quality, form completion rate, click-through to contact, and how people move through the key pages before converting. For a product or commerce site, it might mean add-to-cart rate, checkout progression, or how fast a landing page turns interest into action.

Traffic numbers on their own are often vanity metrics. More visitors only matter if the right people are taking the right actions. A smaller volume of qualified traffic can outperform a larger audience with weak intent.

The first weeks after launch should be used for observation, not panic. Look for repeated hesitation points, pages with strong drop-off, and calls to action that are being ignored. That is where the next gains usually are.
